About the bombing, also known as the forgotten bombing:
"The heaviest bombardment of the city after that of May 14, 1940 took place on March 31, 1943. American bombers from Great Britain carried out that day an attack on harbor and shipbuilding installations in one of the harbor areas in Rotterdam-West. Instead of hitting their target, the industrial area between Keilehaven and Merwehaven, the American pilots caused great damage in nearby residential areas, especially the western part of the Schiedamseweg and the western part of the Bospolder/Tussendijken district. About 10 hectares of built-up areas and 8 hectares of public roads were destroyed and around 13,000 people were made homeless. The destroyed area was bordered by Marconiplein, Mathenesserweg, Rösener Manzstraat, Van Duylstraat, Rosenveldstraat and Blokmakerstraat"
