"Kromme Nolkering was completed in 2002, after very high water levels occurred in 1995 and it turned out that the dikes along the Heusdensch Canal and the Afgedamde Maas offered insufficient protection. The barrier will be closed at a water level of 3.42m +NAP, so that the water level in the Afgedamde Maas does not exceed 3.50m +NAP. The Rivierenland Water Board owns and manages this defence.

The road over the bridge is part of the N831."
