Placement of this landmark was with the permission and assistance of the Phoenix Parks Department and was part of an Eagle Scout project in 2020.

Orienteering exercises are part of the scouting education. The landmarks are placed as part of an exercise in which Scouts learn point to point references in unfamiliar terrain.

The landmark is on the NE side of "hole in the rock" trail in Papago Park.

Boy Scout Troop 88 was chartered in 1955 in Gilbert, Arizona.
