This room is named in commemoration of the
extensive community Service of
Helen Tweddle (1939-2018)
Helen Tweddle was dedicated to improving
many aspects of community life in Queenswood Heights.
Her selfless devotion to her community earned her
recognition from the Queenswood Heights Community
Association, the Cumberland Township Public Library
Board, and the Cumberland Township Community
Resource Centre Board of Directors. Helen was a
founding member of the Bookworm Used Book Store at
the Cumberland Branch of the Ottawa Public Library
(OPL), where she contributed countless hours to helping
the Friends of the Ottawa Public Library Association
(FOPLA) raise funds too benefit the OPL. She was
recognized by the former Township of Cumberland as
the Citizen of the year in 2000 and was posthumously
awarded the prestigious Order of Friendship
Award. Helen Tweddle will be remembered as a true
community builder and pioneer who was an energetic,
friendly, involved and welcoming volunteer with FOPLA.

Cette salle est nommée en commémoration de l’engagement
communautaire exceptionnel de:
Helen Tweddle (1939-2018)
Helen Tweddle s’est consacrée à l’amélioration de nombreux
aspects de la vie communautaire de Queenswood Heights.
Son dévouement désintéressé lui a valu des distinctions de
l’Association communautaire de Queenswood Heights, du
conseil d’administration de la Bibliothèque publique du canton de
Cumberland et du conseil d’administration du Centre de ressources
communautaires du canton de Cumberland. Mme Tweddle était
membre fondatrice de la librairie de livres usagés Bookworm située
à la succursale Cumberland de la Bibliothèque publique d’Ottawa
(BPO), où elle ne comptait pas les heures pour aider l’Association
des amis de la Bibliothèque publique d’Ottawa (AABPO) à amasser
des fonds pour la Bibliothèque. Elle a été nommée citoyenne de
l’année en 2000 par l’ancien canton de Cumberland et a reçu à titre
posthume le prestigieux prix de l”ordre de l’amitié de la BPO. Helen
Tweddle laisse dans nos mémoires le souvenir d’une véritable
bâtisseuse et pionnière de la Communauté et d’une bénévole pleine
d’énergie, aimable, engagée et accueillante de l’AAPBO.
