The historic Peachbelt Schoolhouse remains at it’s original location. It has been wonderfully renovated and is now an artist’s gallery and studio.

“…On the rural corner of M89 and 63rd street in Ganges Township sits the little brick Peachbelt Schoolhouse (ca 1867) named for the peach trees which were the predominate crop along the lakeshore during the late 19th century. In fact, the one-acre parcel donated for the school was originally part of the Paine Orchards, one of the predominate local peach growers of that time whose homestead is still located just across the road…Peachbelt had an annual enrollment of 20-30 students and a single teacher taught all grades and subjects…”
