[FIN] Wecksellin portaat 130 askelmaa. Portaat ovat saaneet nimensä kirjailija Josef Julius Wecksellin (1838–1907) mukaan, sillä hänen lapsuudenkotinsa sijaitsi portaiden kohdalla, Uudenmaankadun varrella. Wecksellin pääteos oli runonäytelmä Daniel Hjort, josta tehtiin myös oopperaversio. Selim Palmgrenin säveltämän oopperan kantaesitys oli Turussa vuonna 1910. Daniel Hjort ja muutamat näytelmän henkilöt saivat nimensä katunimistöön Nuijasota-aihepiirin yhteyteen V-kaupunginosassa.
Portaat lähtevät Uudenmaankadulta ja päättyvät ylös Vartiovuoren tähtitornin eteen. Portaiden yläpäästä avautuu hienot näkymät kaupunkiin.
[EN] Wecksell stairs of 130 steps. The stairs are named after the author Josef Julius Wecksell (1838–1907), as his childhood home was located by the stairs, along Uudenmaankatu. Wecksell's main work was a poem play by Daniel Hjort, which was also made into an opera version. The premiere of the opera, composed by Selim Palmgren, took place in Turku in 1910.
The stairs start from Uudenmaankatu and end up in front of the Vartiovuori observatory. The top of the stairs offers great views of the city.
