Cette église catholique romaine est située sur le boulevard Saint-Elzéar Est dans le quartier de Vimont à Laval.

Selon le site du patrimoine culturel, "l'église de Saint-Elzéar est un lieu de culte de tradition catholique érigé de 1852 à 1854. Cet édifice en pierre présente un plan en croix latine composé d'une nef à un vaisseau, d'un transept et d'un choeur en saillie terminé par un chevet plat. Sa façade d'inspiration néoclassique comprend trois portails. Elle est surmontée d'un clocher, qui couronne le faîte du toit à deux versants droits, et de deux clochetons latéraux, disposés à chaque extrémité du pignon. La sacristie est greffée au chevet, dans le prolongement du choeur. De plan rectangulaire à un étage et demi, elle est coiffée d'un toit à deux versants droits".

Crée en 1901. la municipalité de la paroisse de Saint-Elzéar couvre le territoire de la paroisse catholique du même nom.

À sa création, la municipalité compte de vastes étendues agricoles ainsi que 3 petits noyaux villageois : Village Saint-Elzéar, Canton Bélanger et Cap Saint-Martin.

Le 6 novembre 1962, la ville de Saint-Elzéar change de nom pour celui de la ville de Vimont.

Le 6 août 1965, Vimont a été integré dans la ville de Laval.

This Roman Catholic church is located on Saint-Elzéar East Blvd in the district of Vimont in Laval, Quebec.

According to the cultural heritage site, "the church of Saint-Elzéar is a place of worship in the Catholic tradition erected from 1852 to 1854. This stone building has a Latin cross plan consisting of a nave with a vessel, of a transept and a projecting chancel terminated by a flat apse. Its neoclassical-inspired frontage comprises three portals. It is surmounted by a bell tower, which crowns the ridge of the roof with two straight slopes, and two lateral bell towers, arranged at each end of the gable. The sacristy is grafted to the apse, in the extension of the choir. Rectangular in plan with one and a half storeys, it has a roof with two straight slopes ".

Created in 1901. the municipality of the parish of Saint-Elzéar covers the territory of the Catholic parish of the same name.

When it was created, the municipality had vast agricultural areas as well as 3 small village cores: Village Saint-Elzéar, Canton Bélanger and Cap Saint-Martin.

On November 6, 1962, the town of Saint-Elzéar changed its name to that of the town of Vimont.

On August 6, 1965. Vimont was incorporated in the city of Laval.
