Cold Spring Park in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, is home to a single basketball court. It's tucked between two baseball fields and a tennis court in the central part of the property.

The playing area is laid out along a northwest-to-southeast axis. Large, rectangular backboards in fair condition and re-painted solid white multiple times, are mounted to round steel posts which have been painted red. The hoops are good, though the north rim's nylon net had ripped nearly in half. White boundary lines and red center circle paints are quite faded. The surface is generally flat, but wide cracks run the length and width of the court. One weathered and worn wooden park bench is centered outside the northeast boundary.

A sign of the times: As of the day of my visit and this write-up (23 September 2021), coronavirus concerns continue to drag on past the 18-month mark. Posted at two court side fence locations are COVID-19 pandemic safety guidelines. They read:

Basketball Court play should focus on drills and practice. Games are discouraged.

Face Coverings: Coaches, volunteers, and spectators are required to wear a face covering when unable to easily, continuously and measurably maintain six feet of physical distance; participants should wear face coverings when not engaged in active play.

Spectators should remain 14 feet from the outer limit of play.

Don't play if you are sick or have COVID-19 symptoms. Wash and sanitize hands before, during and after all play. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces on the court.

Finally, you may want to bring along a push broom come Autumn -- mature oak trees along the court drop many acorns!
