Vätternrundan, The world’s largest recreational bike ride and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015.
The bike ride around Lake Vättern is 315 km long.
At the 50th anniversary in 2015, there were 20002 people who started the race. In 1996, when the first bike ride took place, there were 344.

To face the world´s attention and tribute the Vätterrunden's 50th anniversary in 2015, Motala Municipality decorates the town park with four shrub cyclists. The riders comes from Italy and consist of the bush Ligustrum delavayanum. It has taken 18 years to these shrub cyclists to grow and be designed. The four bicycles now stand as a beautiful anniversary feature in the city park.
