English: The lighthouse was built in 1886 of granite from Hirsholmene on the highest point of the island, the six meter high Ørnebjerg. The lighthouse is 27 meters high, has a prism at the top and still sends its light beyond the Kattegat to this day, so that the ships can orient themselves.

When it was built, the light source was a so-called five-walled moderator lamp. It was replaced in 1904 with a glow plug burner for petroleum.

But already in 1838 a lighthouse was built on Hirsholmene. At the time, it was discussed where a new lighthouse on Jutland's east coast could best be located. Some wanted to build on Sæby Church - others thought that the many shipwrecks at the illegible reefs and rocky grounds at Hirsholmene had to speak their own language and demand that the lighthouse should be located right here. And so it became.

The lighthouse was the small tower, which was built together with the lighthouse keeper's residence.

Almost 50 years later, the current lighthouse was built - but the old one was also left standing. Today, the lighthouse is also a lookout tower - and is still housed on Ørnebjerg. See posters about the lighthouse's history in the info house.

On all days when the ferry Seadog sails, it opens in the lighthouse, so guests can come up and see Hirsholm from above. In good weather you can see the east coast of Vendsyssel and in really clear weather you can see the coast of Sweden. Read more about the history of the lighthouse in the Info House.
