Rosalía de Castro was the most important poetey female in Galicia. She lived from 1837 to 1885. The plaque conmemorates 100 years from she lived here (1873).
"The Galician poet Rosalía de Castro lived here with her husband Manuel Murguía from 1870 to 1875, when he was director of the Archivo Xeral do Reino de Galicia. In this house her daughter Amara was born and it was also the place where she wrote the poem to Sir John Moore. Currently the house is unoccupied and can only be seen from the outside."
