[FR] Ce panneau d'information sur le château de Luynes a la particularité de ne pas se situer à proximité du-dit château, mais sur un côteau ayant une vue panoramique.
Un premier château est édifié au Xe siècle ou au tout début du XIe siècle. Détruit à la fin de ce même siècle pendant les conflits entre Anjou et Touraine puis reconstruit au début du XIIe siècle, le château est réaménagé au XIIIe siècle lorsque les seigneurs de Maillé deviennent barons.
Le château comprend une haute et une basse cour. Cette seconde, située en contrebas de la première, accueille des grange et des écuries.
Un donjon occupe le centre de la haute cour dont les remparts sont deux étages plus haut qu’aujourd’hui. Ils sont couronnées de galeries en bois (les hourds) faits avec les matériaux offerts par Saint-Louis. Au nord, une large douve creusée dans le roc protège le château. La douve est dédoublé à l’est. Entre ces deux douves se trouvait un châtelet qui protégeait l’accès au château par deux ponts-levis.
Au XVe siècle, l’intérieur de la haute cour est transformé suite à l’aménagement d’un élégant logis fabriqué en brique et pierre. Ensuite, ce dernier sera réaménagé à l’ouest au XVIe.
Au XVIIe siècle, le second duc de Luynes démoli le donjon et construit une grande aile classique, fermant la façade sud donnant sur la vallée. Au siècle suivant, cette aile sera en partie détruite.
Au XIXe siècle, le château est en partie restauré, les pont-levis remplacés par des ponts dormants et certaines tours arasées.
Le Château est toujours de la propriété des ducs de Luynes. Il n’est pas ouvert à la visite.

[EN] This information panel on the castle of Luynes has the particularity of not being located near the said castle, but on a hill with a panoramic view.
A first castle was built in the 10th century or at the very beginning of the 11th century. Destroyed at the end of the same century during the conflicts between Anjou and Touraine then rebuilt at the beginning of the 12th century, the castle was redeveloped in the 13th century when the lords of Maillé became barons.
The castle has an upper and a lower courtyard. This second, located below the first, accommodates barns and stables.
A keep occupies the center of the high court, the ramparts of which are two stories higher than today. They are crowned with wooden galleries (the hoists) made with materials offered by Saint-Louis. To the north, a large moat dug in the rock protects the castle. The moat is split in the east. Between these two moats was a châtelet which protected the access to the castle by two drawbridges.
In the 15th century, the interior of the high court was transformed following the development of an elegant dwelling made of brick and stone. Then, the latter will be rearranged to the west in the 16th century.
In the 17th century, the second Duke of Luynes demolished the keep and built a large classical wing, closing off the southern facade overlooking the valley. In the following century, this wing will be partly destroyed.
In the 19th century, the castle was partly restored, the drawbridges replaced by dormant bridges and some leveled towers.
The Château is still owned by the Dukes of Luynes. It is not open to visitors.
