Astrid Lindgren, Swedish author, has sold 165 million books worldwide. Known for the books about Pippi Longstocking, Karlsson-on-the-Roof, Emil of Lönneberga and many more.
Astrid Lindgren was born in Småland on 14 November 1907 and died at the age of 94 on 28 January 2002 in Stockholm.
In 1944, Astrid Lindgren's first book "Britt-Mari eases her heart. The following year she won a children's book competition with" Pippi Longstocking ".
For children, Astrid Lindgren has written idyllic stories, detective stories and books about lonely children. For adults, she has written books and essays, as well as picture books, lyrics and film and theater scripts. About 40 movies are based on her books.
