The Northampton Arts Council sponsored the 2021 Northampton Public Arts Festival in which 10 new painted utility boxes were create. The utility box at 139 South Street was decorated by Jill Strait.
Overall, the design on this utility box employs images of various fabric swatches to form flowers and quilt patterns. The front of the utility box has a flower and a bird in flight against the background of blue cloth pattern. The east side contains a 2 by 4 array of eight different quilt squares. The north side has a quilt pattern tulip against the same background as the front. The west side has a 2 by 5 array of ten different quilt squares. The meter is outlined with a circular scalloped pattern to form a flower.
