Quad's Automotive Service and Repair installed a car parts muffler man beside its business sign on Point Judith Road in Narragansett, Rhode Island.
The statue is made from a large muffler for a torso, half a smaller muffler for his head, a brake rotor for a Skimmer style straw hat, and exhaust pipes for arms. Pieces of 3/8" steel rod are welded to form his hands, with the right side raised up to wave "Hello!" at passing motorists. The same stock as used for legs, his eyes and nose are slices of hollow 2-inch pipe. An aluminum foil crescent serves as a bright smile. The five-foot tall sculpture is painted solid gray and is in good shape.
