The 511 feet long Sharps Tunnel was built in 1899 by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Company and was in use until 1978, two years later the line was converted into a rail trail. The Southern half of the tunnel is natural while the northern half if steel framed. There is no nearby parking to reach the tunnel, a long walk or bike ride from Clover Lick (6 miles one way) or Marlington (9 miles one way) would be warranted.
