The hermitage of the Ascension has an atrium with a gabled roof, in which its bell tower stands out, topped with two pinnacles at the ends and a cross on a curved base in the central part. The field surrounding the hermitage is adorned with a work by the painter from Ourense, Virgilio. On the first Thursday of June, the feast in honor of this Virgin takes place, being moved in procession from the church of Gontán to the chapel, auctioning the faithful for carrying her on their shoulders in fulfillment of a promise for some favor granted.
