On December 10, 2020 a mural was dedicated in downtown LaBelle, Florida to honor and remember Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Officer Julian Keen. Keen, who was 30 years old, was shot and killed while making a traffic stop for a suspected hit and run driver earlier in the year.
Artsemble Underground owners and artists Cesar Aguilera and Brian Weaver, traveled to LaBelle and spent nearly 50 hours painting the mural. It is located in the alleyway behind Forrey Grill off of Fort Thompson Avenue.
Officer Keen was a well loved and respected member of the small community. He was a hometown hero to many. He mentored youth and a scholarship fund has been created in his name.
The mural is symbolic of what Julian was about. He was a hometown football star, and a college football player that was named the 2007 South-Central All Star Defensive MVP, nicknamed Batman and a proud officer of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. A real role model to the area’s youth. Gone But Not Forgotten - #belikejulian
