"Station Hoogeveen is the railroad station of Hoogeveen. The station lies on the Meppel - Groningen railroad line. The station was opened on May 1, 1870. In 1984 the original station building, by architect K.H. van Brederode, was demolished due to company presentation, technical condition and efficiency. In the same year, a new station building was opened. In 2013, a large-scale renovation of the station began. There was a new square at the train station and a new bus station. The square was also made safer by the construction of separate routes and entrances for cars, bicycles, buses and pedestrians."
