Coin Beach is named as such due to the shipwreck of the "Faithful Steward" which lost 400 barrels of British copper halfpennies and rose gold guineas. As for metal detecting? It is a known spot for metal detecting and is open all year for it. The best time is after storms when the sand is turned a bit more than normal.

Parking is best at the day use lot next to the campgrounds:
39345 Inlet Rd, Bethany Beach, DE 19930
