In celebration of the 350th anniversary of the Town of Suffield, a barn quilt trail was established throughout the town. Some painted barn quilts are bases on traditional patterns and others are more modern in their design.

The Phelps-Hathaway House is a large estate that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is now a museum. The large white barn with the "Spring Garden" barn quilt, created by Katherine Tolve, is located north of the residence. The design has a stylized, central, yellow-blue-green flower. Radiating out to the four corners of the square are green and pink flowers with yellow leaves. The arrangement is set against an orange background.
Your Visit:
You cannot see this barn quilt clearly from the road. Fortunately the Phelps-Hathaway House has a parking lot near the barn, so you can park and walk north to see the quilt. Also, you can see the barn quilt from the sidewalk through the trees between sidewalk and the fence line.

Type of Barn: Barn still in use
