[FIN] Entinen Turun Lyseon koulu vuodelta 1910 on nykyään ruotsinkielinen ala-astekoulu luokille 1-6. Cygnaeuksen kouluna tunnetun rakennuksen pyöreässä ulkokulmassa on korkealla kello.
Kellossa on roomalaiset numerot, sen viisarit näyttävät sekä tunnit että minuutit, viisarien muoto on koristeellinen. Kellotaulu on valkoinen kun taas viisarit sekä numerot ovat mustia. Pyöreän kellotaulun kummallakin sivustalla on linja-tyyliset ornamentit kohokuvioina. Kello on hieman yli metrin korkuinen ja sijoitettu syvennykseen talon seinässä. Kellon kummallakin puolella on hieman kauempana pienet pylväät ja aivan kellon yläpuolella on kattohuoneiston kolme pientä ikkunaa. Ornamentit kellon vieressä on ruskeanpunaisia ja seinä vaalean keltainen. Koulurakennus on Aurakadun ja Maariankadun risteyksessä.
Kello on toimiva, mutta ei aivan täsmälleen oikeassa ajassa. Se on noin 5-7 minuuttia jäljessä! Rakennuksen sisäpihalla on oppilaita varten toinen kello. Se on modernimpi ja toimivampi.

Uno Cygnaeus (12. lokakuuta 1810 Hämeenlinna – 2. tammikuuta 1888 Helsinki?) oli suomalainen pappi, joka tunnetaan Suomen kansakoulun isänä. Tämä koulu on saanut nimensä hänen mukaan.


[EN] The former school of Turku Lyceum from 1910 is now a Swedish-language primary school for grades 1-6. The round outer corner of the building, known as the School of Cygnaeus, has a clock on high place.
The clock has Roman numerals, its hands show both hours and minutes, the shape of the hands is decorative. The dial is white while the hands and numbers are black. Each side of the round dial has lily-style ornaments in embossing. The clock is a little over a meter high and placed in a recess in the wall of the house. There are small pillars on each side of the clock a little further away and just above the clock are three small windows in the penthouse. The ornaments next to the clock are brownish and the wall is light yellow. The school building is at the intersection of Aurakatu and Maariankatu.
The clock is working, but not quite at the right time. It's about 5-7 minutes behind! Not very accurate. There is a second clock for students in the courtyard of the building. It is more modern and functional.

Uno Cygnaeus (October 12, 1810 Hämeenlinna - January 2, 1888 Helsinki) was a Finnish priest known as the father of the Finnish primary school. This school is named after him.
