The First Presbyterian Church of Oxford was constructed in 1873, at a cost of about $2,000. This was one of the first churches in Sumner County. The initial congregation numbered about fifteen, and the first pastor was Reverend S. B. Fleming. The building was originally illuminated by oil lamps and was "electrified" just prior to WWII. At about this time the outhouse was replaced by an indoor bathroom. With significant growth, the church constructed a much larger sanctuary elsewhere in Oxford and this building passed to the Oxford Ladies Club some time in the 1940s. It is currently in use as a church again, with the Primitive Baptist denomination.
The bell tower, on the south side of the church, houses one large bell.
