It has no entrance but from the sidewalk a path runs through the grass to the war memorial.
Around it in the grass are still a number of old graves.
It is a beautiful, old and well maintained cemetery.

At the beginning of the path is an extensive information board with a number of old photos including the old church.

The information bord reads:

"Here you are at the old cemetery of Schoonebeek. On the left you see pictures of the former "Nicolaas Church" also called the "White Church". This church stood in the middle of the cemetery.

In a document from the year 1419 there is the first mention of a parish church in Schoonebeek. Around the year 1600 the reformation came to Schoonebeek and at that time the "Nicolaas Kerk" became a Protestant church. The pastor at that time switched to the "New Doctrine" and in the year 1600 became the first pastor of the Protestant Congregation Schoonebeek. The church had an external length of 18 meters and a width of 7.73 meters. Around the church lay this cemetery. On August 19, 1919, the last burial took place here. From old burial books and through the civil registry of the municipality we have been able to find dates of death from 1724 onwards.Between 1724 and 19 August 1919 more than 2400 people were buried in this old cemetery around the former "White Church" and we may assume that also before the year 1724 people were buried in this place in the village. There were also burials in the church. There were at least three gravestones: Two gravestones in front of the pulpit and one in front of the exit. On the gravestones the years: 1577, 1656 and 1658. The old church was demolished in the year 1951.
It was in earlier times not so common to grave monuments to place. The oldest existing grave monument in this cemetery The oldest existing monument in the cemetery has the date 1903 and lies on the grave of a baroness.

The monument 1940-1945 was placed in the year 1990 on the place where formerly the "White Church" stood. It was found a nice place for the monument. A cemetery is a place to commemoration, a place of memory. For all intents and purposes it is '
It is good to mention that the eight young people, whose names are on the names are on the monument are not buried here."
