"Riding Bicycles In The Rain" is one of the original 21 painted utility boxes commissioned by the Ithaca Public Arts Commission in 2012 in a program called 21 Boxes. Graphic artist Sean Chilson was selected to paint this utility box. In an ornate, whimsical style he used red line-drawings to depict four riders on bicycles in the rain.
The street side depicts a front view of a Samurai warrior pedaling a bicycle. The north side has a right profile view of a serpent on a bicycle. The sidewalk side has a left profile view of a rider, without a helmet, on a tricycle. The south side has a right profile view of someone in a clown suit riding a bicycle.
