[FIN] Suomen Pankin Turun haarakonttorin rakennuksen on suunnitellut arkkitehti Gustaf Nyström ja se valmistui vuonna 1914. Suunnittelun esikuvana toimi myöhäisrenessanssia edustava firenzeläinen palatsi.

Professori Gustav Nyströmin piirustusten mukaan rakennetun pankin asiakaspalvelutilat ja rahaholvit sijaitsivat ensimmäisessä kerroksessa, kakkoskerros oli jaettu pankin johtokunnan kokoustilojen ja asuinhuoneistojen kesken. Kolmannessa kerroksessa oli kaksi ja ullakkokerroksessa yksi asuinhuoneistoa.
Pankkitalo modernisoitiin perusteellisesti 1950-luvun puolivälissä ja sen jälkeen saneerauksia on tehty 1970-luvun vaihteessa ja 1984. Remontoinnin myötä pankkisali sai raskaan tumman asun ja pilarit ym. verhoiltiin punaisella marmorilla.

Vuonna 2007 Suomen Pankki luopui pankkitoiminnasta Turussa ja rakennus jäi tyhjilleen. Kansallisasunnot Oy osti rakennuksen ja rakensi siihen useita pienempiä asuntoja entisten tilalle. Nämä vuokra-asunnot sijaitsevat kerroksissa 2-4. Alimmassa katutasossa olevassa kerroksessa on nykyään toimistotiloja.

Eräs mielenkiintoinen yksityiskohta rakennuksessa: Talon Linnankadun puoleisella seinällä on havaittavissa edelleen talvisodan pommituksen jälkiä. Suomen pankin talon edustalla menehtyi 29. tammikuuta 1940 pommituksissa kolme ihmistä. Tästä turkulaisittain talvisodan surullisimmasta päivästä muistuttaa rakennuksen pääoven yllä olevan Suomen leijona vaakunan sydämen päältä pommituksissa lohjennut siru.



[EN] The building of the Bank of Finland's Turku branch was designed by architect Gustaf Nyström and completed in 1914. The design was modeled on a late Renaissance palace in Florence.

According to the drawings of Professor Gustav Nyström, the customer service facilities and vaults of the bank built were located on the first floor, the second floor was divided between the meeting rooms and residential apartments of the bank's board. There were two residential apartments on the third floor and one on the attic floor.
The bank building was thoroughly modernized in the mid-1950s and since then renovations have been made at the turn of the 1970s and 1984. With the renovation, the bank hall was given a heavy dark outfit and the pillars, etc. were upholstered in red marble.

In 2007, the Bank of Finland gave up banking operations in Turku and the building was left empty. Kansallisasunnot Oy bought the building and built several smaller apartments to replace the former ones. These rental apartments are located on floors 2-4. Today, the ground floor level has office space.

One interesting detail in the building: On the wall on the Linnankatu side of the house, traces of the bombing of the Winter War can still be seen. On January 29, 1940, three people died in front of the Bank of Finland building. From Turku, the saddest day of the Winter War is reminiscent of the chip that shattered in the bombing of the coat of arms of the Finnish lion above the main door of the building.
