La branche française du sokol tchèque - Sokol de Paris a été fondé le 24 novembre 1892 de Moravskoslovanska Beseda. A l'origine constituée de compatriotes, l'organisation a aidé les Tchèques à s'orienter dans un pays étranger et par la suite, le Sokol s'est davantage concentré sur les idées des fondateurs de Sokol et sur la promotion du patriotisme en France. Au début, le programme du Sokol, élaboré par Miroslav Tyrs, avait pour but d'augmenter les aptitudes physiques, d'organiser et de pratiquer des activités sportives, culturelles et sociales. De participer au développement de la personnalité et de promouvoir un comportement honnête dans la vie privée et publique. La tolérance ethnique, raciale et religieuse, la démocratie, la liberté et l'humanisme. Les membres étaient amenés vers une humilité et une discipline personnelle, vers un amour de la patrie et vers un respect de l'héritage spirituel du pays d'origine. Sur le principe antique de Kalokagathia, Tyrs a construit l'idéal d'un homme en bonne santé physique et psychique, mûr mentalement et socialement, prêt à travailler et défendre sa nation.

Avec ces idées, le Sokol de Paris a considérablement influencé la naissance de la Tchécoslovaquie indépendante en 1918. Les sokols se sont aussi engagés aux deux guerres mondiales, ainsi que dans la période d'après guerres. A l'époque de l'ère communiste, lorsque le mouvement Sokol était interdit, il vivait encore grâce aux organisations Sokol à l'étranger. Le Sokol de Paris a participé activement aux Rassemblements des sokols à l'étranger. Certains Rassemblements ont été organisés par lui-même, en 1954 et 1990.

Actuellement, le Sokol de Paris fonctionne comme une organisation de compatriotes. Il organise des activités de loisirs, il propage la bonne renommée de la République Tchèque à l'étranger. Il réunit des Tchèques, des Slovaques et des Français désireux d'entretenir et de développer des relations amicales entre les différentes nations à travers le sport, la dance et d'autres activités. Nous célébrons les fêtes nationales, nous publions le bulletin d'informations « Zpravodaj », nous pratiquons les danses folkloriques, nous jouons au volleyball et nous faisons du yoga. N'hésitez pas à nous rejoindre, à devenir membre du Sokol de Paris et à participer à la préparation des évènements et des rencontres sportives. Comme membre du Sokol, vous pouvez participer au Comité, dont des réunions sont mensuelles ou sinon, simplement préparer la pâte pour « knedliky » (quenelle) pendant les fêtes nationales.

The French branch of the Czech Sokol - Sokol of Paris was founded on November 24, 1892 from Moravskoslovanska Beseda. At present, Sokol Paris functions as an organization of compatriots. It organizes leisure activities and promotes the good reputation of the Czech Republic abroad. It brings together Czechs, Slovaks and French people who want to maintain and develop friendly relations between different nations through sports, dance and other activities. We celebrate national holidays, publish the newsletter "Zpravodaj", practice folk dances, play volleyball and do yoga.
