"In het complex komen zes vaarwegen samen, die via de Ganzepoot en de IJzermonding zijn verbonden met de Noordzee.

Vanaf de Langebrug aan de westzijde van het complex zijn zes waterbouwkundige kunstwerken te zien in een halfronde vorm (vandaar de naam "Ganzepoot"). Deze zorgen afwisselend voor de afwatering van een deel van de De Polders en de scheepvaartaansluitingen. Afwatering vindt plaats via een stuw, binnenvaartschepen passeren een sluis.

De originele kunstwerken, daterend uit de tweede helft van de 19e eeuw, werden tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog volledig verwoest. Van daaruit werd tijdens de Slag aan de IJzer de IJzervlakte onder water gezet om de opmars van de Duitsers te stoppen. De infrastructuur werd onmiddellijk na het einde van de vijandelijkheden in een licht gewijzigde vorm herbouwd."

"Six waterways meet in the complex, which are connected to the North Sea via the Ganzepoot and the IJzermonding.

From the Langebrug on the west side of the complex, six hydraulic engineering works of art can be seen in a semi-circular shape (hence the name "Ganzepoot"). These alternately ensure the drainage of part of the De Polders and the shipping connections. Drainage is via a weir, inland navigation vessels pass through a lock.

The original works of art, dating from the second half of the 19th century, were completely destroyed during the First World War. From there, during the Battle of the Yser, the Yser plain was flooded to stop the advance of the Germans. The infrastructure was rebuilt in a slightly modified form immediately after the end of hostilities."

Le drainage se fait par un déversoir , les bateaux de navigation intérieure traversent une écluse .

Les œuvres d'art originales, datant de la seconde moitié du XIXe siècle, ont été complètement détruites pendant la Première Guerre mondiale . De là, pendant la bataille de l'Yser, la plaine de l'Yser a été inondée pour arrêter l'avancée des Allemands. L'infrastructure a été reconstruite sous une forme légèrement modifiée immédiatement après la fin des hostilités."
