"Although the current building is from the 19th century, the altarpiece inside is from the 17th, which allows us to intuit the antiquity of the temple, perhaps medieval. It owes its name to the fact that it is located on the road that linked Ribadeo with Viveiro and Mondoñedo, although it is also possible that the invocation is related to the Jacobean pilgrimage. Its high altar, completed in 1699, is a Baroque work by Tirso Toxeiro; presided over by an image of the Virgin, next to Santa Lucía and San Pablo, in him the old arms of the city council of Ribadeo can be admired: a key on the waves of the sea."
