The Flaestower

The D'n Flaestoren viewing tower was opened on 11 November 2011, designed by LuijtenISmeuldersIArchitecten from the city of Tilburg.

In collaboration with Land van de Hilver, the Workgroup Heemkunde Esbeek has taken the initiative to develop a watchtower on The Utrecht Estate.
The original plans for placement in 2009 were unfortunately not feasible and have been slightly adjusted.

This very special shape will certainly attract the attention of many hikers and cyclists and you can hardly escape climbing. (Entrance 1 €)
The view that you enjoy here is breathtaking.

The tower measures 24 meters and consists of 8 tree trunks of 22 meters from the De Utrecht estate itself, 28,000 kg of steel and 3,500 kg of steps.
The foundation consists of about 123 tons of concrete.

The Utrecht Estate

state "De Utrecht" is located in the Brabantse Kempen and extends over the municipalities of Hilvarenbeek and Reusel de Mierden. The estate is bordered by Belgium on the west side.

In 1898, the Life Insurance Company "De Utrecht" started a major development project as a cash investment. This has grown into the Estate "De Utrecht" as we know it today.

The Estate "De Utrecht" is rare of its kind due to the scale of the exploitation activities and the large size of the estate.

The total size of the estate "De Utrecht" is 2,485 hectares and includes approximately 1,600 hectares of forest, 600 hectares of agricultural land, 200 hectares of nature and 100 hectares of other (golf course, roads, water and yards).
