Arethusa Falls is believed to be the tallest single-drop waterfall that is trail-accessible in New England. However the Dryad Falls in New Hampshire is taller but is only seasonal. The falls were discovered by Edward Tuckerman in 1875 and they are sometimes called by that name. Tuckermann named the falls Arethusa Falls after the Greek nymph.

To reach the falls hike west about 1.5 miles along the Arethusa Falls Trail. From the end of the trail spur you can make your way to the base of the falls.
