Wooden figure of the evangelist John at the pulpit of the Reglerkirche in Erfurt.
The present pulpit of the Reglerkirche did not belong to the basic equipment of the church, but was installed in 1973 and comes from the monastery church St. Pankratius in Hamersleben.
The pulpit, built in 1687, shows the 4 evangelists including the corresponding "personal" marks.
John the Evangelist is the name traditionally given to the author of the Gospel of John. Christians have traditionally identified him with John the Apostle, John of Patmos, or John the Presbyter.
