While the church has an active Facebook page, it provides nothing in the way of history, nor do the various web-spidered listings for the church. A sign in front of the sanctuary notes that the church was established in 1906, and a partially-obscured (by a handicapped ramp) cornerstone indicates that the sanctuary was constructed/completed in March of 1934. There is also a parsonage next door. Sylvester itself dates to 1903, and its best days were prior to the 1940s, after which residents headed away from the farms and into the cities. There are anywhere from fifty to a hundred people here, and Sylvester still has a post office.
