While there is a rich history of the I.O.O.F. overall, there is not a lot about the D.C. region available. In 1819, the Lodges in the D.C. region had petitioned to establish a Grand Lodge. Some time later the jurisdiction received a charter for a Grand Encampment to oversee patriarchal and Rebekah lodges. Since 2001, all lodges have been co-ed.
