The Closet Of The Greater Herndon Area Incorporated is a nonprofit thrift shop in the heart of historic downtown Herndon, Virginia.

The Closet was founded in 1974 by a handful of churches to assist low-income families by selling used clothing at nominal prices. Over the years, our mission has expanded and we have become a significant resource for the greater Herndon area.

We continue to be a source of low-cost clothing and household necessities for families and individuals on a tight budget. The Closet sells a wide variety of donated items, including men’s, women’s, and children’s clothes and shoes; housewares such as dishes, kitchenware and linens; electronics; sporting goods; books, videos, CDs and record albums; artwork and frames; toys; and knickknacks.

We also give away clothing at no cost to truly needy individuals, and we use our profits to support worthwhile community programs.

Items we are unable to sell are donated to needy communities in the western part of the state.

Collectors and antiques buffs like to check The Closet’s shelves for unusual books, plates and collectibles. Bargain hunters often find brand-new or never-used merchandise at a fraction of the retail price. On shopping days, eager shoppers often begin lining up outside before the store opens. - (visit link)

Visit Instructions:

A new log for any Waymarks in the Thrift Store category could include a brief mention of the store's condition and that of its merchandise. Was it clean and well-organized? That would be nice to know.

If you saw anything really interesting at the store, include that in your log and write about what you bought, if anything, and whether you got any real treasures during your visit.
