DE: Das Keramikmuseum "Keramion" wurde im Jahr 1971 vom Architekten Peter Neufert und dem Ingenieur Stefan Polónyi an der Bonnstraße 12 in Frechen erbaut. Das Gebäude ist dabei einer Töpferscheibe nachempfunden worden. Steinzeugfabrikant Gottfried Cremer nutzte es zuerst als Privatmuseum für seine umfangreiche Sammlung zeitgenössischer Keramik. Seit 2002 wird als öffentliches Museum für Keramik von der Stiftung Keramion betrieben, zugleich wurde es unter Denkmalschutz gestellt.
Mit der Stiftungsgründung wurde die Privatsammlung von Gottfried Cremer mit der städtischen Sammlung der historischen Keramik zusammengelegt und das Keramion somit zu einem Spezialmuseum für Keramik. Gezeigt werden unter anderem Exponate der Pingsdorfer Keramik (~9. bis 13. Jahrhundert), der Rheinischen Keramik (hauptsächlich Mittelalter), Töpferware aus dem Frechener Stadtgebiet (13. Jahrhundert bis heute) sowie die Sammlung Cremer, die Keramikkunst vieler verschiedener Künstler ab den 1950er Jahren umfasst. Ein Skulpturenpark im Aussenbereich wurde 1992 eingerichtet.
Geöffnet hat das Museum Dienstags bis Freitags sowie Sonntags von 10 bis 17 Uhr, Samstags von 14 bis 17 Uhr. Der Eintritt kostet 5 Euro pro Person, mit Ermäßigungsnachweis 3 Euro - bei speziellen Ausstellungen wird ein Euro Aufschlag erhoben. Im angeschlossenen Museumsshop sind Repliken und Fachliteratur erhältlich.

EN: The ceramic museum "Keramion" was built in 1971 by the architect Peter Neufert and the engineer Stefan Polónyi at Bonnstraße 12 in Frechen. The building was modeled on a potter's wheel. Stoneware manufacturer Gottfried Cremer first used it as a private museum for his extensive collection of contemporary ceramics. The Keramion Foundation has been operating as a public museum for ceramics since 2002, and at the same time it was placed under monument protection.
When the foundation was established, Gottfried Cremer's private collection was merged with the municipal collection of historical ceramics, making the Keramion a special museum for ceramics. Among other things, exhibits of Pingsdorf ceramics (~ 9th to 13th century), Rhenish ceramics (mainly Middle Ages), pottery from the Frechen city area (13th century to today) as well as the Cremer collection, which includes the ceramic art of many different artists starting from the 1950s. An outdoor sculpture park was set up in 1992.
The museum is open Tuesdays to Fridays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission costs 5 euros per person, with proof of a reduction in price 3 euros - a surcharge of one euro for special exhibitions is charged.
