EN: The Matterhorn Museum, also called Zermatlantis, is located under a glass dome shaped like a mountain on the square next to the Catholic church in the center of Zernatt.

The museum is significantly larger than it appears, as only the entrance area is visible, the actual exhibition rooms are underground.

The main theme is of course the Matterhorn and its first ascent in 1865, but there are also other exhibits from the history of the village back to the Neolithic Age.

The museum was opened in 2006 and is visited by around 40,000 people a year.

DE: Das Matterhorn Museum, auch Zermatlantis genannt, befindet sich unter einer bergähnlich geformten Glaskuppel auf dem Platz neben der katholischen Kirche im Zentrum von Zernatt.

Das Museum ist bedeutend grösser als es scheint, da nur der Eingangsbereich sichtbar ist, die eigentlichen Ausstellungsräume sind unterirdisch.

Das Hauptthema ist natürlich das Matterhorn und seine Erstbesteigung im Jahr 1865. Aber es gibt auch weitere Exponate aus der Geschichte des Dorfes bis zurück zur Jungsteinzeit.

Das Museum wurde 2006 eröffnet und wird jährlich von rund 40'000 Personen besucht.
