The plaque records that lifelong resident Thomas donated the land in front of the wall for the construction of a footpath.
The inscription on the plaque is as follows:

ON BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE OF MICHAEL
APRIL 1987
TO COMMEMORATE
THOMAS EDGAR QUAYLE
A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF MICHAEL
WHO DONATED LAND FOR THE CONSTRUCTION

Denise also suggests that Thomas' father owned the Grocers Shop in the village T. W. Quayle.
The construction of the footpath dramatically increased the safety of the residents of the village walking along the busy Main Road (A3).
