History
The current church was built in the 19th century under the name of Saint Jacques after the destruction of the old parish church of Saint-Pierre. Under the Ancien Régime, Vignec was the seat of a main cure with two annexes: Soulan and Cadeilhan-Trachère.
The parish is mentioned since the Middle Ages The first church, whose origin is not known, was probably placed at that time under the name of Saint Peter. In the 1660s, when the churches of the diocese were reorganized as part of the Counter-Reformation, the choir was adorned with an altarpiece of carved and gilded wood, it was located in the enclosure of the cemetery and was demolished in around 1850 due to its obsolescence.
The current church, under the name of Saint Jacques, was built from 1851 on the plans of Eugène Loupot. Weakened by an earthquake, it was closed in 1859 for consolidation work and reopened in 1861.

Architecture
The facade has many elements of neo-Romanesque style:

the tympanum decorated with a chrism (monogram of Christ) and a checkerboard frieze;
the friezes decorated with balls, on which the arches rest;
the twin bay pierced in the bell tower.
Inside, the nave covered with a false semicircular barrel vault, is lined with side aisles and ends in a semicircular apse In the choir are placed two statues of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, which would come from the altarpiece of the old church and there is also a polychrome wooden statue of a seated Virgin and Child dating from the 15th century.

L'église actuelle a été construite au xixe siècle sous le vocable de saint Jacques après la destruction de l'ancienne église paroissiale Saint-Pierre. Sous l'Ancien Régime, Vignec était le siège d'une cure principale avec deux annexes : Soulan et Cadeilhan-Trachère.
La paroisse est mentionnée dès le Moyen Âge La première église, dont l'origine n'est pas connue, a probablement ete placée dès cette époque sous le vocable de saint Pierre. Dans les années 1660, lorsque les églises du diocèse furent réaménagées dans le cadre de la Contre-Réforme, le chœur fut orné d'un retable de bois sculpté et doré, elle était située dans l'enceinte du cimetière et fut démolie en vers 1850 en raison de sa vétusté.
L'église actuelle , placé sous le vocable de saint Jacques, a été bâtie à partir de 1851, sur les plans d'Eugène Loupot. Fragilisée par un tremblement de terre, elle a été fermée en 1859 pour des travaux de consolidation et fut rouverte en 1861.

Architecture
La façade présente de nombreux éléments de style néo-roman :

le tympan orné d'un chrisme (monogramme du Christ) et d'une frise en damier ;
les frises à décor de boules, sur lesquelles reposent les voussures ;
la baie géminée percée dans le clocher-tour.
À l'intérieur, la nef couverte d'une fausse voûte berceau plein cintre, est doublée de collatéraux et se termine par une abside semi-circulaire Dans le chœur sont placées deux statues se saint Pierre et saint Paul, qui proviendraient du retable de l'ancienne église et s'y trouve également une statue en bois de polychrome d'une Vierge à l'Enfant assise datée du xve siècle.
