[FIN] Tässä valoisassa May-nimisessä taideteoksessa (2018) on kuvattuna Aurajoen länsipuolta lähellä kirjastotaloa. Kadulla rakennusten edessä on keväisessä säässä monia ihmisiä liikkumassa läntisellä pitkälläkadulla. Osa on aivan joen törmällä istumassa penkeillä.
Huomaatko minkälaisia rakennuksia näkyy veden heijastuksissa? Miten ne tuovat maalaukseen lisää syvyyttä, koska ne ovat muuten kuvassa piilossa. Entä osaatko sanoa mistä vedenpinta alkaa? Kun katsot aluetta tarkemmin, huomaat myös että taiteilija on varmastikin tarkoituksella jättänyt jotain pois. Hyvä niin, sillä tuo toinen luvaton "taiteenmuoto" ei miljööseen sovi.
Maalaus on tehty poikkeuksellisella tekniikalla; se on maalattu öljyvärein kirkkaalle alumiinilevylle. Taiteilijan mukaan tämä on teknisesti mukava pinta maalata. Siitä voi myös pyyhkiä pois ja se tuo kiiltävän pohjavärinsä kanssa uusia mahdollisuuksia teoksiin.
Kuvataiteilija Erika Adamsson (s.1973) valmistui taidemaalariksi Turun Piirustuskoulusta vuonna 1996. Hän on osallistunut yli kahdenkymmenen vuoden ajan erilaisiin näyttelyihin niin omina näyttelyinä kuin ryhmä- ja yhteisnäyttelyihin kotimaassa ja ulkomailla. Teoksia on monissa merkittävissä taidekokoelmissa sekä myös julkisilla paikoilla. Hän toimii myös kuvaamataidon opettajana Turun AMK:n Taideakatemian yksikössä.

[EN] This bright work of art named May (2018) depicts the western side of the Aura River near the library building. On the street in front of the buildings, in spring weather, there are many people moving along the läntinen rantakatu. Some are right on the banks of the river sitting on benches.
Do you notice what kind of buildings are visible in the water reflections? How they bring more depth to the painting because they are otherwise hidden in the picture. What can you say where the water level starts? When you take a closer look at the area, you also notice that the artist has certainly deliberately left something out. Good, because that other unauthorized "art form" doesn't fit the milieu.
The painting is done with exceptional technique; it is painted with oil paints on a clear aluminum plate. According to the artist, this is a technically comfortable surface to paint. It can also be wiped off and with its glossy base color brings new possibilities to the works.
Erika Adamsson (b.1973) graduated as a painter from the Turku School of Drawing in 1996. For more than twenty years, she has participated in various exhibitions as her own exhibitions, also as well as group and group exhibitions in Finland and abroad. There are works in many significant art collections as well as in public places. She also works as a visual arts teacher in the unit of the Turku University of Applied Sciences Academy of Arts.
