This war memorial in the form of a tall cross is situated in Ings Grove Park.

The Monument is in limestone with a tall column on a square base and the names of the fallen in both World Wars are at the rear of the Monument set in a red bricked walled area comprising of eight plaques. The three left and right plaques refer to World War 1 and the two centre plaques to World War 2.

An avenue of 12 trees leads up to the memorial and there is a wreath in relief at the top centre of each plaque.

There is an inscription at the base of the memorial.

OF
THE MEN OF MIRFIELD
WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE
SERVICE OF THEIR KING AND COUNTRY
IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1919


AND THE WORLD WAR 1939 - 1945
At the time the memorial was unveiled there was also a WWI tank next to it but this was removed at a later date.

As well as a rededication to the memorial after WWII another inscription was added in 2010 at the rear of the base.
