Translated from the above noted text:

The Saint-François-de-Sales Church was built between 1886 and 1903 and was designed by the priest-architect Georges Bouillon, the same who carried out the plans for the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica in Ottawa - according to a article by historian Michel Prévost, published in the journal Histoire Québec in 2005.

The building, included in the Jacques-Cartier heritage site, has changed little over the decades.

The City of Gatineau carried out major revitalization work on Jacques-Cartier Street which was completed in 2016. On the grounds of Saint-François-de-Sales church, the installation of a ramp for people with reduced mobility (on the right in the photo from 2018) had caused a small scandal. Procedural flaws had to be corrected by Gatineau elected officials in June 2017.

The parish also received a grant from the Quebec government in March 2017 to replace the aging windows of the religious building.

In 1897, a large bell was blessed in the church. This event recalls an interesting anecdote. Two years earlier, during a visit to this church, the wife of the Governor General of Canada, Lady Aberdeen, and her retinue had fallen into the icy waters of the river and had been rescued by villagers from Pointe-Gatineau. In gratitude, the viceroy had offered this bell.
