This mural is about 30 feet long by 20 feet high. It has a very vast palette of colors. It shows a view down Broad Street of Cookeville from the 1930s near dusk.

"'Cedar Avenue Mural' depicts an image of Broad St. Cookeville, TN from the 1930s. It is set at twilight so most of the street is visible, but the street lights are lit, giving a festive glow. The mural is not so dark to feel out of place during the day, but has a “night on the town” feel that adds to the scene on Cedar Ave. after the sun goes down. It is a positive rendition of Cookeville from the past; thriving, packed with cars and pedestrians. It is an encouragement to visualize Cookeville that way still, with its specialty stores and local fine dining.

The mural is located directly across from Father Tom's Pub, giving their patrons an ideal view of the mural. It was funded by donations from various local business around Cedar Avenue, a grant from the Cookeville Arts Council, and many admirers who left donations in Father Tom's Pub. It was completed in 2018."

"Erica Swenson employs a realistic style as a way to encourage the viewer to feel transported to a different place. She applies acrylic paint in an articulate way to enable textures of objects and the mood of the moment to be felt. Most of her career has focused on using murals to accomplish this. Many of them include a portion of the image that blends into the real world in their composition, such as a fence or part of a wall. The art transitions from this structure to a new scene the viewer is invited to experience.

She began painting murals in 2004 soon after graduating from the Rochester Institute of Technology. The grandness of murals attracted her to the art form, along with the way they can be used to create a sense of place in a public setting. Her murals can be found in Nashville, TN; Cookeville, TN; Jamestown, NY; and along the Erie Canal Mural Trail in western New York."
