Q 481 - Briscoe County Courthouse, Silverton, TX - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey Disk is on the south wall of the Briscoe County Courthouse, on the left side of the south entrance. The disk is stamped Q 481 and is dated 1924; the disk is in excellent condition.

While photographing the courthouse an elderly gentleman emerged and struck up a conversation; he was the County Judge! He said that they had recently completed an extensive renovation of the courthouse that resulted in the removal of the original cornerstone, which was set into the new stairs. He was aware of the NGS disk on the building and was pleased that others came to photograph it.
