The double-leaved entry is recessed behind a round arch with
extrados archivolt molding ending in floral-centered volutes, and screened with a grill of turned-wood spindles suggesting a portcullis. The paneled doors, faced with red oak, are decorated with horizontal reeded moldings and bull's-eyes, below elongated glass lights surmounted by multi-pane colored glass transoms.

This modest, Queen Anne library is only public building in this architectural style in Ashburnham. The public library is the successor to two, private groups, the Ashburnham Library (1793-1833) and its direct antecedent, the Ladies Library Association (1850-1884).
