[EN] "Härän merkki" (Sign of Taurus) is a light art work by Johan Verkerk in Turku's Härkämäki, which was unveiled at the beginning of the Turku Capital of Culture year on 16 January 2011. The suburb Härkämäki translates as Taurushill on english.
The light work is attached to the end of the housing company Pyytin's tower block. The far-visible work, which conforms to the constellation of Taurus, consists of 505 blue and 370 white LED lights. Taurus is one of western Zodiac signs. It's best to view during evening or night time.
The Härkämäki Society, which participated in the erection of the work, donated the work to the art collections of the City of Turku.
[FIN] "Härän merkki" on Turun Härkämäessä sijaitseva Johan Verkerkin valotaideteos, joka paljastettiin Turun kulttuuripääkaupunkivuoden alussa 16. tammikuuta 2011.
Valoteos on kiinnitetty asunto-osakeyhtiö Pyytin tornitalon päätyyn. Kauas näkyvä, Härän tähtikuviota mukaileva teos muodostuu 505 sinisestä ja 370 valkoisesta led-valosta. Se on parhaiten nähtävissä pimeään aikaan.
Teoksen pystytystalkoihin osallistunut Härkämäkiseura lahjoitti teoksen Turun kaupungin taidekokoelmiin.
