For the latter, I have more than a serious doubt and am almost certain that they date from the restoration of the building around 1885, which also saw the appearance of a painted decoration by Charles Lameire in the great room. from the first floor. After the relocation of the town hall (first in a rented building then in the new town hall in 1901), the building served as a lapidary museum (whose curator was the architect Arthur Bouneault, whom I will tell you about again for the sculpted relief in Sauquet-Javelot and a building in rue de la gare, both in Niort). It is now an exhibition hall.

Pour ces dernières, j’ai plus qu’un sérieux doute et suis presque certaine qu’elles datent de la restauration de l’édifice vers 1885, qui a aussi vu l’apparition d’un décor peint de Charles Lameire dans la grande salle du premier étage. Après le déménagement de l’hôtel de ville (d’abord dans un immeuble loué puis dans le nouvel hôtel de ville en 1901), le bâtiment a servi de musée lapidaire (dont le conservateur fut l’architecte Arthur Bouneault, dont je vous reparlerai pour le relief sculpté à Sauquet-Javelot et un immeuble rue de la gare, tous deux à Niort). C’est aujourd’hui une salle d’expositions.
