The story of the three wise monkeys came from Japan. Later Mahatma Gandi had a sculpture of the monkeys made.

This American version is three Chimpanzees dressed in clothes and wearing shoes. The "hear no evil" and "see no evil" are on the left end of the bench with just enough space for a person to sit, then the "speak no evil" chimp is on the right end of the bench.
