Ulrike Nasse-Meyfarth wurde 1956 als Ulrike Meyfarth in Frankfurt am Main geboren und wuchs in Wesseling auf. 1971 wurde sie zweite bei den deutschen Leichtathletik-Meisterschaften und qualifizierte sich dadurch für die Olympischen Spiele 1972 in München. Dort holte sie mit der Weltrekordhöhe von 192cm die Goldmedaille im Hochsprung und wurde so die bis dahin jüngste Olympiateilnehmerin in der Leichtathletik. Am 2. November 1982 erhielt sie von ihrer Heimatstadt Wesseling die Ehrennadel für ihre Leistungen im Sport. 1984 holte sie ein zweites Mal Gold bei den Olympischen Spielen in Los Angeles im Hochsprung.
Über das Stadion
Im Jahr 1952 wurde die Sportanlage an der Jahnstraße unter dem Namen Kronenbusch-Stadion errichtet. Die Anlage umfasst neben einem Fussballfeld inmitten der Laufbahn die für die Leichtathletik üblichen Ausstattungen und bietet Platz für 4800 Zuschauer. Die erste Mannschaft der Sportvereinigung Wesseling-Urfeld bestreitet auf dem Platz die Spiele der Verbandsliga. 2004 wurde das Stadion zu Ehren der Hochspringerin in "Ulrike-Meyfarth-Stadion" umbenannt, 2017 wurden die vier Umkleiden modernisiert.

Ulrike Nasse-Meyfarth was born in 1956 as Ulrike Meyfarth in Frankfurt am Main and grew up in Wesseling. In 1971 she was second in the German athletics championships and qualified for the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. There she won the gold medal in the high jump with a world record height of 192cm and thus became the youngest Olympic athlete to date. On November 2, 1982 she received the badge of honor from her hometown Wesseling for her achievements in sport. In 1984 she won gold for a second time at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in the high jump.
About the stadium
In 1952, the sports facility on Jahnstrasse was built under the name Kronenbusch Stadium. In addition to a soccer field in the middle of the running track, the facility also includes the usual equipment for athletics and offers space for 4800 spectators. The first team of the Wesseling-Urfeld sports association plays the matches of the association league on the pitch. In 2004 the stadium was renamed to "Ulrike-Meyfarth-Stadion" in honor of the high jumper, and in 2017 the four changing rooms were modernized.
