João de Deus was a Portuguese poet, one of the most read poets in the country. This is one of his statues, located in Coimbra, in central Portugal.

This is a statue of João de Deus, made of bronze. One of the most notable poets of Portugal, he was born in Algarve and studied Law in Coimbra where he lived for 13 years. The statue is not dated and there is no visible reference to its author. It's located in a place known as Penedo da Saudade, a most visit spot in this town which is UNESCO World Heritage.
